When we got invited to Bentley HQ to tour the factory, we expected to see some classy vehicles, but this took us by surprise.
Bentley Motors have a room dedicated to their Heritage Collection. From the first ever Continental GT, to the first Bentley under VW ownership (Arrange Red Label), to the simply incredible piece of history that is the last ever Bentley Mulsanne produced, commissioned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
It’s an Extended Wheel Base example that has Bentley’s 529bhp 6.75-litre V8 under the hood. Mulliner, Bentley’s personal commissioning division, worked with the late Queen to customise her historic Mulsanne and ensure it met the Royal standard.
The classy dark green paint might look like British Racing Green, but it is in fact Barnato Green. Unsurprisingly, the interior is totally bespoke. Walnut veneer, lambswool carpets and cream leather are just some of the highlights as you step inside this barge. The ultimate touch? The Royal Crest painted onto the walnut veneer doors.
The royal family don’t do normal so yes, there are some hidden tricks. In the centre console, you can find a control panel that has the following options: Siren; Convoy Light; Front Blues; Rear Blues and Bullhorn. Let me tell you, this was a LOT of fun.
