Despite operating around the world for just shy of 30 years, there has never been an RWB build in Switzerland (mainly due to strict modification regulations)…until now!
For those who might not know, Akira Nakai AKA Nakai San, founded Rauh Welt Begriff (RWB) in 1997. The aim was to create highly-personalised Porsche builds that combine Japanese motorsport influence with street culture. In the past 29 years, it is thought that Nakai San has completed over 600 builds in every corner of the globe.
The main man, born in Chiba, Japan, is a master of his craft. We’ve seen plenty of videos online that showcase these famous ‘builds’ but to see it in the flesh truly is something.
For Swiss build #1, we were flown to Zurich before taking the train and eventually reaching Seelisberg – a stunning scenic mountain village that sits right above Lake Lucerne. We were greated with the Porsche 964 (pictured below) that was prepped and ready for it’s makeover.
Over the course of two days, the elegant 964 underwent many aesthetic changes. From a new wide body kit, to monstrous wheels, to a Swiss cross on the bonnet, it was nearly unrecognisable at the end. Nakai would do each part in roughly 20 minute blocks, break to smoke a Japanese cigarette, and repeat. All with his famous Beagle, named Bagel (love it), watching on from the sidelines.
To add an extra element to the event, there was a Porsche car meet on Day 1 and a tuned car meet on Day 2. You can check out the special variety of cars that turned up to those by watching our RWB Swiss YouTube video.
It really was great to see the family who commissioned the build get involved, and help Nakai with the finishing touches. The second spoiler (that was totally unnecessary) was the last major addition before the icing on the cake. Like Van Gogh, Picasso, and any other artist would do, Nakai signed off by adding his signature to the stripe of the car.
To end the weekend, the completed Swiss build, a Luxembourg 964 build, a Dutch 993 build and a German 997 build, congregated on the event centre track for a special photoshoot.
